how to run components at 2 ohms in a home application?

i have components that run 300 rms at 2 ohms with a cross over for the mids and tweeters, and i would like to build a custom box for these and set the up in my home. But from my knowledge i understand that home audio receivers come in 6 or 8 ohms and i dont want to overload my current one, so how would i power these, i am willing to buy a new reciever if i need to , the one i have is a 7.1 yamaha surround

hi jacob….there is one way to do this….all you have to do is run a power amp from say your yamaha 7.1 amp,you simply link up from the yamaha’s pre-out (input)…now heres the tricky part…. you have to get a “custom” lead either made professionally or finding through a retail outlet (store). at one end is the male rca for the pre out on the yamaha….the other end is a neutrik male plug or a 1/4 inch jack to link to the power amp input…which equivelates to one lead per/channel…..so buy a power amp…for e.g..crown, etc that is 2ohm compatible….the beauty of using a power amp is that you can get them in 2 and 4 channel thus creating more opportunities later on…..good luck with it. almost forgot…..you can still have your current speaker set up connected to the yamaha 7.1….you simply switch off the speakers from the amp…you should have a facility on this amp to do it…
